Jos,
If I run my applications on a drive other than a c-drive,
then there is no Alias filename (files with ~ 1) available.
I use the Alias filename to check a intern follow up,
whether that file also exists within the internal environment of dBase,
in order to be able to accept a necessary follow-up in multiple
processes to be performed.

You’ll have to check the settings of the OS managing that drive. Apparently creation of SFN (8.3) is disabled, or not supported.

Behind the CMD-prompt: fsutil set 0
Never heard of it and never had to deal with it because I always ran the APPs on the C-drive and there was no problem and reason to do it in a other way, but made the solution in one go.
