Hello everybody, after upgrading to the actual Version i am having the issue that the Printer stopped working. when i try to print something a pop up appears that says "Cound not inizialize printer" with a big yellow exclamation mark underneath that shows
\\Srv-dc01\PRT-03..
right now the config settings are
REM Printing REM ======== rem LPT<1-9> and COM<1-9> are available for printing. rem Without settings, printing from DOS to Windows printers could work just fine. rem If it doesn't, or you want more control over what is done by vDos with printing; read the printing.pdf document.
LPT1 = SEL:"DISPO1-P2" RAW
that am i doing wrong?

That message box mostly indicates vDos tries to connect to a printer unknown by Windows. The displayed printer name doesn’t match that in config.txt, I guess vDos at that moment simply uses another config.txt (at another location). If you use a shortcut to start vDos, check the config.txt file in the Start in directory.

The error message states “\\Srv-dc01\PRT-03”, while you have LPT1 = SEL:"DISPO1-P2" RAW in config.txt. Since the printer names don’t match, I assume vDos isn’t using that config.txt, but one located in another directory. You mentioned upgrading vDos, perhaps directories got mixed up. To verify, rename config.txt so vDos won’t find it. Printing should then display the Windows printer selection dialog. If “DISPO1-P2” is in the printer list, it should be LPT1 = SEL:"DISPO1-P2" RAW. Else you could open Windows Explorer, go to Network and look for shared printers.

Thanks for your help Jos. I changed the setting to LPT1 = SEL:"PRT-03" RAW but still nothing happens even tho the printername is set to PRT-03. what really bugs me is.. i still have the old version stored in a seperate folder and able to print with the "old settings". but with the 2018 Version it will not print to save my life... do you have another idea for me?

The LPT1=SEL: setting should of course match that of the older vDos version. What when you temporary add a second LPT1=SEL:… line to config.txt? You should then get a warning message "CONFIG.TXT: Option specified more than once". So at least know you are modifying the correct confog.txt file.

At least that happened ;-) vDos didn't like the second line and complained that a second LPT1 is in use. the original settings are the DISPO1-P2.. i have really no clue where this comes from.... but it worked.... even the printed is named PRT-03

When you go to “All settings”- “Devices” - “Printers & scanners”, if some printer is installed that would be the targeted one, check it is online, empty queue. If none is listed, select “Add a printer or scanner”. If found, eventually install it. If not, check the network printer adapter is connected/functioning.
