I don't have enough knowledge to get my program to work. I can get it to somewhat load, but it's blank, none of the headers load, I don't know how to get it to find the data. Can I pay someone to get it to work?

Could you submit your autoexec.txt file, or the commands to start the program. Also specify where your program and data is located. Will most likely be some incorrect path.

I have not put the commands in the autoexec.txt file because I haven't gotten it to work yet. It is a property management program called Yardi. I bought it over 20 years ago and have used it to run my business. I'm getting ready to retire in a year or two and don't want to shell out a couple of thousand dollars (which is what I paid for this many years ago) for a windows based program when this works well. the pm.bat file opens a shell of the program, no headers. When I look at the pm.bat file in Notepad it tells shows: run 512 92200 mpm2.exe %1 %2 %3 %4 I can send screen shots of what it's supposed to look like, and what pm.bat opens is empty.

pm.bat starts the program and all the data is in the same file. I put everything in Vdos. In my computer that runs this program, this is how it's all organized. This computer is dying and I can't get on the internet to download DOSPRN a program I bought to print from DOS, which works very well. This is why I'm trying to figure out how to get the program to work on a windows computer, above 8, which no longer allows DOS to run.

You started the program in Windows 32-bit by double clicking pm.bat, or by a shortcut? If the latter, can you submit a screenshot of its Properties - Shortcut (right click the shortcut).
DOSPRN won't be of any help, it only lets you print (probably won't be needed in vDos).

ok, I'm learning something. On this old computer I drug out, because our other old computer died (this one isn't running very well either) on this computer, the program that starts Yardi. pm.bat and the data is in two different files, you were right to point me there So, on that computer, when I double click pm.bat, it brings up the program but can't find the data, I have to tell it where the data is. So, when I use that program, I did use it from a shortcut. Sheesh, it's been so long. I', 63 yrs old so, I didn't remember. How do I submit a screen shot to you. So, I'm going to try removing all the data to a different file and see if vDos will bring up that same "searching for data" screen.?

I'm really trying to follow the steps you provide, one at at time!

Yay, once I removed all the data and only had the program starting data in vDos, it opened the program properly. It brings me to a screen that says: Unable to find PM Data Enter 'l' to load existing directory 'r' to restore from backup or 'c' to create empty files [ }
PM data directory (in a fill in box that reads) C:\2003datx\
So, how to I tell it to do this and then select the data? This is very exciting! For 5 years I've been wanting to do this!

To create a screenshot, press [Print Scr], the image is copied to the Windows Clipboard. Or use Windows Accessoires - Snipping tool. If you have problems with that: You would start vDos by the Desktop shortcut. Right click that, select Properties. Add /log to the end of the Target entry. The next time you start vDos and your program a vDos.log file will be created in the vDos directory. Submit that, it should reveal what's going wrong.

Holy Moly, I manually entered where I moved the data from vDos directly to vDos>2003data and it loaded. Funny though, I typed it c:\2003data) and it loaded it. A lot to wrap my head around because, it's actually not c:\, I first tried c:\vDos\2003data, then, just removed the vDos and it worked. crazy. So, now I need to try to get it into the autoexec.txt. Super exciting!!!!!! So I'm going to try to read the directions to figure out how to put it into the autoexec.txt and get it to work. I had to manually enter the c:\2003data\ (which is really a sub file in vDox file). So, I'm not sure how to get this going but am going to try.

The printing works well except the printing on checks is way too far to the right, the left hand margin needs to be less, so I'm trying to figure out how to move it. My program doesn't move horizontally. I can adjust the print vertically, however I was surprised to see it print in the right areas on a check and on my reports.
