PC’s and laptops come with a high resolution display, while the physical dimensions don’t keep in pace. To get text readable, you would instruct Windows to scale it up by some percentage (100+). This has a major disadvantage to the current vDos: TrueType text is rendered at a lower (virtual) resolution, the resulting bitmap then scaled up by Windows. So you get a somewhat fuzzy vDos window, as demonstrated by this picture of a partial WP menu. The scaling factor a modest 150%: To remedy that, the next vDos version will be ‘DPI aware’. Text rendering is at the actual display resolution, w/o Windows scaling. If you want to check out this new approach, send me a PM. Mind, the prelease version I’ll send will only function until August 1st. It’s just for having a look at this new feature. Jos
