Hello. I have used vDos version 2020.03.01 for testing only, because it is for my particular "hobby", since I stopped programming years ago. I have always programmed with btrieve and I was surprised how easy it was to use it with vDos. My surprise has jumped when in the config, txt of the new version 2021 has given me error in the line btrieve = W3BTRV7.DLL. I have eliminated it to test and when opening a btrieve file it gives me error status 20: The MicroKernel or Btrieve Requester is inactive. I have started to read the new faqs and I see that everything related to btrieve has disappeared. Is it a bug or has btrieve support been removed in version 2021.05.01? Thanks for your great work and best regards Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

The Btrieve interface with Windows DLL connectors has indeed been dropped. With each new release I evaluate extensions I once thought useful. This time three did not make it, mostly due to lack of feedback and confidence they were actually used: - The Btrieve DLL interface
- DataPerfect core substitution/acceleration
- EXTEND = config.txt option
I wasn’t that happy with the Btrieve DLL interface code, too indirect in gluing the DOS to the Windows interface. The only two users who showed interest as it was implemented just quit communicating. And I was from the start doubtful there would still be DOS programs around connecting to a server based Btrieve database. So that interface isn’t likely to return. You can’t just use the DOS Btrieve TSR requester? Jos

Thank you Jos for your reply If you are referring to the btrieve.exe, it cannot be used since the files have been updated through pervasive versions. In my case I am with V8 and the btrieve.exe only supports up to V5, at least the btrieve.exe that I have. As for the requester, it does not work correctly or I did not know how to configure it. In XP it worked this line: c:\pvsw\bin\bdosstub but I can't get it to work with Win10. But for my part there is no problem, I will go back to v2020 of vDos. Greetings and thank you very much Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
