A few of my extant DOS apps (WP, Quattro Pro, Borland C) took advantage of Super VGA text modes (e.g., 132 × 50) on a Trident video card, at the time installed in my (probably 286) PC. Does vDOS support those higher resolution text modes?

If you want more than the default 25x80 characters, use the "TEXT=" directive of config.txt, for instance "TEXT=50x132". The numbers however are not fixed to any video card modus. As long you application inquires the BIOS for the number of columns and lines, this should work.

Thank you, Jos. I'll give that a try. I suspect WP and C achieve their higher resolution by doing the BIOS query. Quattro needed selection of a Video Card, which may rule out this solution. Then again, it might have set an interrupt (that I'm guessing vDOS would ignore) and adjust its display to match the presumed output, so if that output and TEXT= settings match, it might work. I'll give this a try over the next couple of days to see if it does.
