What version of vDos do you use? If the latest (2020.03.01), start vDos with the log option (...vDos.exe /log) and post the generated vDos.log file.

Line 23 states A4 is already satisfied with NetBIOS. But the main problem of line 35 and 36 (OpenFile failed: TEST\TEST.DBF(5) => \\172.16.25.25\A4\TEST\TEST.DBF(32)) still exists. What if you go to “Configuration - Network configuration”, is the File sharing mode set to “Exclusive”? If so, change it to “Shared” and save, and check if that ‘sticks’ when reopening “Network configuration” again.

Jos,
I am using Alpha4v7 run time. I do not have a main menu.

The same test app does work if started on a Windows 32-bit PC? As with vDos, test of course also with 2 instances.

Yes, I currently have 6 users on win7 32bit NTVDM running this without issues.

6 users access \\172.16.25.25\A4\TEST\TEST.DBF w/o problems, but vDos cannot join this party?

That is correct. Vdos works if all other users are out of the system. Otherwise i get that error. “File not found or access denied.”

The only difference between the NTVDM and vdos is this. The "WORKING" directory points to a different folder. I wasnt able to replicate that in VDOS Attachments:

Could you post a screenshot of the Status screen (F3) in NTVDM and vDos?

What if you copy autoexec.txt and config.txt to A4V6RT and set the Working directory of the vDos shortcut to there?
