Jos, I went ahead and registered today but if you haven't processed that you might hold off if that's possible. I fixed my problem in my program and ran it in the win 10 32 bit machine and it works perfectly. I ran it over and over. But I am still getting the weird stuff on my win 64 machine. The program won't compute correctly and I am still losing my data in real columns within the database at random. I have learned now to exit out immediately and come back in and the data reappears so I haven't lost anything yet. I thought the program would work but I am getting worried. I went to copy over the program from the win 32 machine from a thumb drive and put in a copy cmd in Rbase and d: (the thumb drive) can't be found. How do I get to other directories on the computer? I can only access the data22 & 21 folders by using w. The fix worked great in my program so I don't have to redefine a column within the program but that was not the issue, or at least not the only issue. I am going to try and reinstall my entire database and commands to see if that does anything. I use this Rbase for everything and it has to work correctly. I am all about trying any fixes you may have. Thanks Breck

That was just in time, I was about to create the registration file and leave for probably the whole morning, but had before a quick glance at eventual new posts. If you want to access further drives in vDos, you have to do a USE for those. Like USE D: D:\. Or start a copy of the command line processor of Windows if possible from within Rbase by CMD.EXE /K.

Don't worry about the payment, go ahead and process it. I will keep the registration in hopes that the problem can be fixed. I spent more time trying to figure out what is happening. Real number columns don't work. That program I was talking about is very simple and I've used it since 1984 (I figured out) with no problems. I did fix the little conversion problem with one line of code, but that was not the problem. My programs which deal with real number types won't run or calculate correctly. In the real data columns the data all changes to 0's and just disappears. If I exit out and come back the data returns. But the programs won't work, even when the data returns. I run the same tests on the win 10 32 bit using the same exact data and the program works correctly, but in the win 64 the program gives a different answer each time. I have what is equivalent of rem lines which can be removed to show the flow of data through the program and the data is all over the place, strange numbers will show up that have no relation to what they should be. This vdos is so sleek and simple that I want it to work badly. It comes up with just my main menu which is what I've been trying to find and seems to work with everything but the real number type columns and data. Please let me know when you get the real number patch you were talking about so I can try it. I will put my payment towards the future in hopes that the problem can be solved. Thank you again for all your help and please keep me informed. I put my direct email on the registration and you can contact me there immediately if some break through comes up. Breck

I’ll keep the registration on hold. As mentioned at the registration page of vdos.info one should only register if/when vDos fulfils all requirements.
I sent you by wetransfer a vDos.exe copy 6 hours, you should a download notice of them.
Seems like your program enters a loop of recalculating the displayed values with a correction. For instance triggered by totaling rows versus columns resulting in a different grand total. But it apparently doesn’t modify the underlying actual data.

I downloaded the file and installed it, it says 2022 in about. Curious, it so far has not changed the data to zeros but I haven't messed with it very much yet. This is what happened yesterday, it seemed to be working until I did some more tests. It is now just giving me 1 wrong answer, instead of a different one each time I run it. I took my program out of the 64 bit os and put it in the 32 and the program ran correctly. I will let you know as I poke around with it more. Thanks.

Hey! I changed a tolerance setting yesterday for real numbers from the default of 0 to 6, just poking around trying to get it to work. I changed it back and forth a few times and nothing changed. I remembered that and went in and changed it to 0 (set tolerance = 0) and my program ran correctly! Got the right answer. Thanks, I'll let you know.
