I got a report using DosPrn as an alternative print processor messing up vDos.
The DOSprn_Integration.exe process of DosPrn is extremely busy in the background, doing weird things. Causing the installed vDos.exe not to be executed, instead a (patched?) copy somewhere else is.
That eventually disturbs vDos startup.

Now at three incidents, due to installing a recent DosPrn version.
It’s rather time-consuming to pinpoint the cause. Although vDos itself is not at fault, the next version will block this obstruction.

If you get the vDos exception “This vDos.exe instance is started by: …”:
Uninstall DOSprn, disabling it in the system tray won’t end the offending DOSprn_Integration.exe process. Also delete any LPTx/COMx = "LPTx/COMx": leftovers in config.txt.
If you actually require DOSprn, install it again, but uncheck the tight integration option!
Add a LPTx/COMx = "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\DOSPRN\DOSprn.exe" DOSPRN_options #LPTx/COMx.ASC line to config.txt for the (DOS) printer ports you’re going to use.
