Jos
When I print in Landscape mode (it’s marvelous vDos offers this option) and then view the printout in landscape orientation, I get a very wide left-hand margin of about 40 mm. I’ve tried setting HORZ:0 but this only reduces it to 30 mm and, of course, gives me an undesirably narrow margin when I revert to printing in normal portrait mode.

Could you submit (or send me) an .asc file to reproduce the printout?

Do you have instead the LPT1.asc file generated by vDos?

Ok – I’ve just repeated the landscape print and attached the #LPT1.asc file that I saw in my \vdos directory. My config.txt contains the following. CTRL+V = OFF FONT = FONTS\LUCON.TTF THEME = 6 TEXT = 50x80 LPT1 = VERT:0,100,10 The VERT statement is so that I don’t get the missed lines we discussed in an earlier post. LPT1.asc (2.81 KB)

When I use LPT1 = VERT:0,100,10, copy the .asc file to LPT1, and select Landscape in Bullzip, I get attached PDF document. Seems OK to me. Jos Attachments:vDos3.pdf (9.13 KB)

Yes – the pdf looks fine. So, it must be something with my printer setup.
From the vDos “Print” dialog I go “Preferences” > “Advanced” and I see that the “Paper Size:” is set to “Letter”. I change this to “A4” and try Landscape again. It is better: I now have a left-hand margin of 23 mm instead of 40 mm.
I’ve just gone Start > Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners > Samsung ML_331x Series > Manage > Printing Preferences and set the default to A4. This is a relatively new install of Windows 10 and, presumably the initial paper size default is “Letter”.
Thanks for looking at this.

What if you print vDos3.pdf? That is A4, perhaps the extra margin is related to the printable area.

If I load vdos3.pdf into Adobe Acrobat Reader and print (hope that’s what you meant) I get identical output to what I get when I print temp.txt from my vDos/Open program – both have the 23 mm left-hand margin.

Your printer will have a non-printable top area (the side the paper is fed in) of some 13 mm. In Landscape that will become the left side of the paper. If you also set the page to flip (rotate 180 degrees), I guess that non-printable area will shrink to a few mm’s.

That would make sense but I’ve looked and looked and cannot find how to flip the output 180 degree. It’s not a big problem – it’s so rarely I need to print Landscape.
Many thanks
