I like using Notepad++ to maintain my DOS database programs, and I see that Notepad++ ("NPP") will load and run user files directly, html/php files for example, in Firefox, Chrome.Safari, etc. NPP has tools that allow for color-coding, debugging, etc. The bonus is NPP has the ability to run one's edited programs directly.
Has anyone here ever used NPP to edit and run their dBase programs using NPP? I can manage this in a clumsy, round-about way, but it would be really an excellent result if I could use fixed-up NPP scripting tools to edit and run my database programs on vDos using the NPP edit/save/run scripting method. It would require calling vDos from NPP, then running the edited file in NPP/vDos. However, so far, I can't figure out how to use NPP to load vDos and run the just-edited dbase file.

You should be able to make NPP run a script with the current filename as parameter. Then make the script store the filename in a windows environment variable. And after that start vDos and then read the windows variable in autoexec.txt

No problems with version 1.5 (https://vetusabandonware.com/download/Norton%20Editor/?id=3507): I guess version 1.2 uses INT 9 to communicate with the keyboard. That interrupt isn’t emulated by vDos, so NE won’t detect any typing. Jos
