When trying to run my recently downloaded 2023 version of vDOS, I got the pop-up nag note which then locked my computer. After rebooting, I now get the message "vDOS should not run elevated". So my fresh download seems to be unusable. Went back to my 2018 version of vDOS and that runs OK without locking up my screen , and without the message. Is there something I need to know? PS: About the nag-note: I've tried donating to vDOS several times, but it's not easy. (Suggest you open a PayPal account to make it easy for us) However, we can come back to that after sorting out the crippled 2023 version. What do you suggest?

If you access non-local files, the About pop-up also shows in the 2018 version. It however doesn’t lock the PC. You should still be able to fully use the Windows system. Only the vDos window will be ‘locked’ until you close the About pop-up by its Close button or by Alt-F4. "vDOS should not run elevated" is discussed in several threads, like: vdos.proboards.com/thread/268/vdos-run-elevated. A PayPal donation link is somewhat tucked away at www.vdos.info/sources.html. That however doesn’t remove the About pop-up, registering vDos will. Jos

"[the donation link] however doesn’t remove the About pop-up, registering vDos will."
Clicking on "Donation ?" on the vDOS info page says that registration costs €50" - which is correct? Or does this only mean that donating by PayPal doesn't remove the pop-up? Having trouble sorting this out!

It means that donating by the donation link won't remove the About pop-up. But registering on this page will: www.vdos.info/register.htmlClick either the Username or Network link under "How to Register." Donating is always welcome, but it is not the same as registering.
