When changing settings in config.txt, I get "No Valid Option" message when using any of the suggested settings, viz:
WINDOW = 100 WINDOW = 60,250:160 LINS = 24 COLS = 120
What am I not understanding?

With the 2021 version the syntax changed to: WINDOW = [-][size%][,horz%:vert%] But WINDOW = 100 should still work fine.
And as of the 2018 version it is: TEXT = lines x columns

With "TEXT = 24X80" I get "TEXT = invalid parameters"
What I'm trying to do is gain some control over the display because the default is a large window with an equally large font. I'd like to be able to specify a smaller window with 132 character lines. Or sometimes a very small font for debugging side-by-side with Notepad++ in a separate small window.

Use a lower-case "x" (as in "lines x columns"):
TEXT = 24x80
Also, some DOS programs may not show their full window with 24x80. 25x80 should work with everything.
