Hi Using PowerBasic 3.5. When I request to go to DOS prompt it fails then
vDos is installed thus: C:\Source\vDos from which vDos is launched PowerBasic is installed thus: C:\Source\PB from which PowerBasic is launched I suspect the file command.com is expected to be found in \Source or \vDos or \PB ?
How do we fix please...?

Programs normally just start the command processor, eventually verify its presence by a DOS API function. PB 3.5 however tries to actually open the COMMAND.COM file, because that doesn’t exist vDos can hardly return a valid file handle.
Create a dummy COMMAND.COM file in vDos/DOS C: so PB will be satisfied.

Jos thank you for replying.
Not sure if I follow what I need to enter. Tried this (complete path shown)
C:\Source\VDos\DOS\command.com (0 bytes for dummy?) ...does not work

I don't know what your vDos/DOS C: is. You start vDos.exe in C:\Source\vDos. But DOS C: isn't the default C:\Source\vDos. Then you wouldn't be able to start PB in vDos.
If DOS C: is Windows C:\Source (by USE), create COMMAND.COM in Windows C:\Source. The size or content doesn't matter, PB only opens and closes the file.
